This year, I decided to enter Canada's newest ultimate sweet tooth event, Canada's Baking and Sweet Show.
So I needed a cake design.
Can you guess what this is?
Okay, this should make it easier.
That's right!
It's a Christmas Tree Cake covered in Sweets for Canada's 2nd Annual Baking and Sweets Show held in Toronto on September 28th, 29th & 30th!!!

This is the cake I made for the Christmas Theme Competition, sponsored by Duncan Hines.
But the part that surprised me was the trunk. That part was a bit of a fluke.
I got to thinking that ginger cookies kind of looked like tree bark.
I decided to whip up a batch and see if I could make it into a tree trunk and amazingly, it worked!!
The best part about making the trunk, was that the smell of gingerbread was absolutely delicious in my dining room as I finished working on the cake over the next couple of days:)))
It actually felt, and smelt like Christmas!

These are the sweets! Some remind me of Christmas, like the little gingerbread men, the peppermint swirls and the Christmas puddings.
Others are just memories from my childhood, like the strawberry shortcake Popsicle's I loved as a kid (and even still do).

There are cherry and blueberry pies, ice cream cones, bon-bons, delicate french macaroons in orange creamsicle and lavender, pink frosted slices of cake, chocolate dipped marshmallows, salted pretzels and fluffy cupcakes.
There are ice cream sandwiches, Werther's Origionals, shortbread cookies sprinkled with sugar, twisted peppermint candy canes, dark chocolate truffles, twisty marshmallows and even a couple of Terry's white chocolate oranges covered in real orange zest. In our family, Christmas morning isn't Christmas morning without a Terry's
Chocolate Orange in each of our stockings.
See the tiny decorated gingerbread house in the above photo?

Her unique designs and cakes have been featured world wide, and she was one of the judges of the competition.
She said that the gingerbread house was her favourite sweet.
That and the pink swirly cupcake below.
There's the chocolate sprinkled donut, the jam-filled shortbread cookie and the swirly peppermint candy.
Throughout the duration of the show, I had so much fun watching people examine the tree. It was inspiring to see the smiles and the excitement as they discovered their favourite sweet.
Oh look, there's the blueberry tart with a streusal topping and the Christmas plum pudding!
This is a magical view from the top of the tree that reminds me of why I love this sweet, whimsical, world of sugary frosting and candy confections. It's what sweet dreams are made of.
