Crowning glory

Well if you thought the previous cake was elegant, how about regal?  All I’ve done here is take off the buttercream cupcakes, added a crown and some porcelain-looking flowers.  The Toronto Star was running an ad for The Good Food Festival coming to the International Centre.  The contest involved decorating a cake in honour of the upcoming Royal Wedding of Will and Kate on Well, incredibly I was chosen as one of three finalists to participate in the final contest during the festival on the day of the wedding. With all the talk about Will & Kate’s upcoming wedding and the possibilities for a royal cake, this seemed like something that people would be interested in watching while attending the festival. Now all I had to do was come up with a design that I could execute in one hour – the amount of time we would have to decorate a cake in front of a live audience, for a panel of judges.
