How does your cake stack up?
Although showing a little wear and tear, this stacked cake, incredibly, survived a car trip from Brampton to Stratford in one piece. It was the 80th birthday party for a special mom who worked hard raising her family on a dairy farm, who loved gardening, birds, birdhouses and quilting (there is a little quilt hanging from the first pot, on the right side). Up close and personal, this cake was vibrant, fun, REALLY tall and told the story of a beautiful life. The cake itself was black forest which consisted of a rich chocolate cake, homemade cherry filling and vanilla buttercream. All of the decorations were made from a fondant/gumpaste mix.
