With Love from Tiffany's

At the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in downtown Manhattan, New York City, is Tiffany's flagship store, the filming location of the popular "Breakfast at Tiffany's" movie, starring Audrey Hepburn. Tiffany's is well known for their diamond engagement rings and thus their little blue boxes tied with white satin ribbon are well known to be a girl's best friend. Any gentleman sporting one of these iconic blue boxes is usually met with array of tears, hugs & kisses, if you know what I mean. This little blue box is a powerful image in the world of weddings and is often used as a theme at showers and weddings because of it's association with style, sophistication and elegance.  Not wanting to tarnish this reputation, I pulled out all the stops and tried to deliver a cake that would live up to this standard.  Most importantly, since it was for a wedding shower, I wanted there to be no doubt that this cake was made to celebrate an upcoming wedding. I transferred this concept through the details.  The puffiness and satiny sheen of the bow, the embossed detail of the three heart charms, the embellished logo and the row of pearls (satiny white dragees) around the bottom.  All of these details came together to deliver a dressed up package worthy of the bride-to-be. This cake was used as the center-piece for the blue tiffany boxed theme of the wedding shower and it was presented on a pedestal surrounded by dozens of tiny tiffany boxes tied with white ribbon.  Each little box held a small token of the bride-to-be's appreciation to each of her guests for coming to the shower. I would love to have seen that and if I get a picture, I'll be sure to post it.
